What is a Thread Lift and how does it work?

We are pleased to be able to offer the latest in skin rejuvenation, the PDO thread lift. In contrast to other available thread lift treatments, PDO thread lift does not have hooks or tapers that rise tissue. Lifting effect is achieved by a special thread weave and polydioxanone which has properties that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

Results and tightening are noticeable immediately but full effect is evident after 5 months due to the collagen stimulating properties of the threads. Treatment effect lasts 18 months.

Areas treated by Thread Lifts:

  • Mid-face ‘lifting’

  • Neck tightening and lifting

  • Jawline lifting and tightening

Frequently Asked Thread Lift Questions

A series of photographs will be taken and a topical lignocaine anaesthetic will be applied to the skin 45 minutes prior to the procedure. The skin will then be thoroughly cleaned and marked ready for treatment.

The thread lift procedure involves numerous injections with small needles containing a special thread. When the needle is removed from the skin, the thread is left behind. It is this that creates the tightening effect by stimulating collagen.

Treatment takes between 20-40 minutes depending on the area being treated.

You will need to have a follow-up appointment at around 6-8 weeks following treatment to assess the results.

Swelling and bruising are common and you may feel a ‘tooth-ache’ style discomfort in the area treated for a few days after the procedure.

You may also feel a tight ‘pulling’ sensation for the first few weeks after the procedure. This is normal and will settle over time.

The effects can be seen for up to 18 months after treatment. This can dependant on the person.
